My Father's Secret, a narrative game of worker poses

You play one of the siblings at the end of the nineteenth century, whose father, who has just died, turns out to be a mad scientist who has bequeathed you his laboratory full of unfinished inventions.

Frankenstein atmosphere...

The goal is to score as many victory points as possible by completing experiments throughout the game, and attempting to complete your ancestor's masterpiece over several generations.

Over the course of the game, you will have up to 6 miniatures, which you take turns placing on Locations in the village or on your estate.

Each worker placement triggers an action.

But be careful, the figurines have their own capacity and pose constraints.

The objective is to collect from these Places the Resources (Ingredients, Knowledge, Money) necessary to complete experience cards which themselves provide you with other Resources, and so on, to create a production engine.

But you're dealing with a population that's afraid of progress.

When you go to the graveyard to collect dead bodies or Occult Knowledge from the nomadic encampment, the Angry Mob and Fearper tokens get dangerously close to each other on a track on the board, and when they meet, you suffer penalties for your actions (pitchfork in the buttocks, prohibition from coming to the village, etc.). etc.).

Luckily you can redeem yourself by going to church (or the pub) and overcoming the fear that your experiences inspire in the Crowd, but you will be wasting time.

And time is the game's most important resource.

Indeed, to master the tempo of the game is to master the game.

Because the game takes place over 3 Generations, each divided into 3 life cycles (beginning-middle-end).

When your character dies at the end of a generation, they only bequeath a small portion of this research to their successor, and all unused Resources are lost!

It is therefore necessary to optimize the collection of resources and spend them at the right time!

As in most worker posing games, choosing a specific location over another also allows you to block or slow down the opponent (your brother and/or sister in this case).
