"King of Tokyo: Origins" is designed for 2-4 players, each taking on the role of a powerful monster. The objective is simple: become the last survivor or reach 20 victory points. Each player starts with 10 life points and 0 victory points, and must roll dice to perform different actions: attack other monsters, heal their wounds or accumulate energy cubes to buy cards with special powers.
A new starting point for the King of Tokyo universe!
King of Tokyo: Origins is an indie game in the King of Tokyo lineup primarily designed to serve as an entry point for new players, with a more compact version of King of Tokyo. The game includes four new monsters, an assortment of new power cards mixed with old ones, energy cubes, and green dice with yellow inlays.
100% King of Tokyo Gameplay!
The gameplay remains the same as in the original game: To win, you must be the first to score 20 victory points, or be the only creature still standing. The board represents the city of Tokyo, and the first player to enter Tokyo begins to earn additional victory points each round. However, being in Tokyo also means being the target of all the other monsters. Every decision, every roll of the dice can swing the game in your favor or cause you to lose.
Take control of Tokyo, but beware, being at the top comes at a price!
Each spin, you roll six dice, which display the following six symbols: 1, 2 or 3 points, energy, healing and attack. Over the course of three successive rolls, choose to hold or discard each die in order to earn points, gain energy, restore life, or attack other players.
When you attack, if you're outside Tokyo, you're hitting whoever is in Tokyo; if you're in Tokyo, you hit all the other players! If a player's health drops to 0, they are out of the game. (You can't heal damage when you're in Tokyo, and the only way to get out of town is to get attacked by someone... which may protect you from death).
When you gain energy, you store it in cubes, which you can use to buy power cards, which have a permanent or temporary effect and allow you to be given special abilities to strengthen your monsters!
