In Gold West, players take on the role of prospectors who build their mining empires while competing for the precious metals of the frontier.

In a delicate balance between resource management and zone control, players must plan their building strategies while carefully managing their supply routes in order to refine the right resources at the most opportune times.

Stay ahead of the competition and you could lead the West into the Golden Age.

The goal of Gold West is to accumulate the most victory points by smartly managing your expanding mining empire.

The game has five resources: the metals Copper, Silver, and Gold are used to acquire victory points in different ways, while Wood and Stone are building materials used to build camps and settlements on the board to collect more resources and influence the landscape.

Each hex contains two or three resources.

Gold usually earns players the most points, with silver and copper earning slightly less.

In addition, each type of land earns points to the player who has the most influence at the end of the game.

Copper lands are the most valuable, while silver, gold, and forest lands are worth slightly fewer points.

When obtaining new metals and materials, players place them on their "supply track," a mancala-like track on which they manage their resources.

The further you place them on the track, the more points you earn, as it helps create a more refined product, but it will take you longer to get these resources to the beginning of the supply track, where they can be used.

Boomtown's expeditions, investments, and offices often reward players for completing them early, so it's a clever balance between risk and reward.
