In Azul, you play as a 16th-century craftsman in charge of decorating the Royal Palace of Evora, the sumptuous residence of the King of Portugal.

To do this, you will have to use your artistic fibre and your skills as a craftsman to create the most beautiful mosaic.

It's going to be a tricky task and the competition will be tough.

Other competitors are in the race and have every intention of preventing you from fulfilling your mission.

Only the most beautiful fresco will adorn the walls of the palace.

Become royalty's most prestigious craftsman!

Each player has a board with a pattern to complete.
7 discs are placed in the center of the table, composed of 4 mosaics of different colors.
Players will have to complete their fresco with the pieces of earthenware present on the discs.
When a player selects a disc, they must take all the tiles of the color of their choice.
The other colours are arranged in the centre of the table.
The tiles chosen by the player are placed in a preparation area.
The latter is made up of lines that players will have to complete beforehand before being able to place the pieces of earthenware in the pattern of the fresco.
A game is played in several rounds.
Each round ends when all the tiles have been played.
It is at this point that the balance of the round is made and the players complete their design.
Players score points based on how well they complete the pattern.
Thus, if during the game, a player manages to build columns or rows of tiles, he will increase his points tenfold.
Similarly, they may also lose points in some cases.
For example, if he fails to place all mosaics of the same color on a line in the preparation area, he will lose as many points as unplaced earthenware.
The game ends as soon as a participant completes a line of their pattern entirely.
At the end of the game, players will be able to receive bonuses if they have created a row, a column or if a color is complete in their tile.
As you can see, Azul is a very strategic game where players try to place their tiles in order to score as much as possible.
They may also try to block or slow down other craftsmen in the elaboration of their fresco.
