Cyberpunk TCG: a new card game set in the dark universe of Night City
Cyberpunk TCG is a new trading card game inspired by the cyberpunk universe popularized by Cyberpunk 2077. The game immerses players in a world dominated by megacorporations, augmented mercenaries, and power struggles on the streets of Night City.
Still in the alpha phase, this TCG already offers a strong identity thanks to an original mechanic mixing cards, dice and territory control.
A brutal and corporatist cyberpunk universe
In this game, players take on the role of teams of operators and influential factions: corporate agents, hackers, mercenaries, or fixers working in the shadows.
The cards represent different elements typical of the genre:
- Iconic characters like Goro Takemura
- Cybernetic equipment and high-tech weapons
- Hacking programs
- Corporate Security Guards and Combatants
The universe is based on rivalries between factions, including large corporations like Arasaka, and groups operating on the streets. Each player assembles a team and tries to gain the upper hand in this war of influence.
Types of cards
The game is structured around four main types of cards.
Legends
Legends are the leaders of your faction.
Each player selects three at the start of the game. They start face down and can be revealed during the game to activate their special abilities.
They are also used to set the colors and maximum power of the playable cards in your deck.
Units
Units are the characters who fight on the field.
They attack, defend, and can steal the opponent's resources.
Their Power determines their effectiveness in combat and the amount of resources they can steal from a successful attack.
Gear
Gear are permanent pieces of equipment that are attached to a unit to improve its stats or give it abilities.
Programs
Programs are one-off effects: hacks, tactics or special actions that allow you to turn a situation around.
A central mechanic: dice and Street Cred
The great originality of Cyberpunk TCG is the use of dice called Gigs.
At the beginning of each round, a player:
- Draw a card
- Takes a die from the storeroom
- Throws it and keeps it in front of it
The sum of the values of these dice represents the "Street Cred", a resource that can activate or strengthen certain cards.
This mechanic gives an additional strategic dimension: the value of the dice directly influences the available abilities.
How to win a game
The dice also serve as dynamic victory points.
When a unit attacks the opponent directly, it can steal one of their dice. This means:
+1 point for the attacker
−1 point for the opponent
The game is won when a player starts their turn with 6 dice in their possession.
This system creates an evolving score, where each attack can turn the tide.
Resources: Eddies
To play cards, you have to produce Eddies, the in-game currency.
Once per turn, a player can sell a card with the "Sell" symbol to turn it into a permanent resource producing 1 Eddie per turn.
These resources are then used to:
- Summoning Units
- equip the Gear
- Activate Programs
Deckbuilding
Deckbuilding obeys several rules:
- 40 to 50 cards in the deck
- Maximum 3 copies per card
- 3 Mandatory Legends
cards must meet the RAM limit of the chosen Legends.
The RAM determines the maximum power of the cards of a suit that you can play. The more Legends you choose from the same suit, the more powerful cards you can include from that faction.
A TCG still evolving
The game is currently only available in Alpha Kit, intended to test the mechanics. Some rules and maps therefore remain experimental.
You can find the TCG Cyberpunk in our store when it is released and even pre-order the game very soon.
