The Block forms the heart of the game mechanics. It symbolizes the primordial block of clay from which all the Unfinished Ones come and more particularly those interpreted by the players. In concrete terms, the Block is a pack of 32 original cards composed of:

• 4 Transcendence cards indicating exceptional success. The symbol of Transcendence is the circle;
• 8 Achievement cards indicating a success. The symbol of Achievement is the hexagon;
• 8 Perseverance cards indicate either a failure or a success, depending on whether the player decides to invest water or fortitude for it. The symbol of Perseverance is the diamond;
• 8 Backhand cards indicating a failure. The Backhand symbol is the triangle;
• 4 Dust cards indicating a catastrophic failure. The Dust symbol is the square.
