Dangerous Gary, explore abandoned places in a D&D tribute role-playing game
In the mid-1980s, Nicolas "Gary" Aspairt, a young French back from the United States and a big fan of Dungeons & Dragons, the first role-playing game, discovered the existence of an alternate dimension. This other reality took the form of a network of labyrinths with varied and changing architecture, populated by more or less aggressive creatures. Nicolas and his friends feverishly set out to explore what they eventually called Dungeons, in reference to their favorite game.
Today, these pioneers have disappeared under unclear circumstances and no one has yet solved the enigma of the Dungeons. What is their nature? Who created them? For what purpose? The characters embodied by the players have taken up the torch of Nicolas Aspairt: they go deeper and deeper into the maze of the Dungeons, in order to understand and master the ultimate secrets.
An exploration game based on the Into the Odd system
Dangerous Gary is a role-playing game whose system is inspired by that of Into the Odd. Simple rules, a surprising combat system, adventures focused on exploration: these are some elements of this atypical game that you will find here. However, the universe in which you will live strange adventures is very different from the one described in Into the Odd, since it is ours... or almost.
The characters of Dangerous Gary are ordinary individuals of the contemporary world who discover that urbex, a leisure activity for visiting abandoned places, hides many secrets: dungeons, sites only accessible to initiates; the Donjexers, an occult community of dungeon explorers; artefacts, ordinary objects that are sources of incomprehensible stakes; and a whole history and tradition clearly linked to role-playing... Their adventures will lead them to discover unsuspected truths.
The Dangerous Gary Core Book contains everything you need to play: an introduction to the donjexer community, its members, how it works, its activities, and its secrets like dungeons and artifacts; the rules of the game based on those of Into the Odd, chosen for their simplicity and modularity; truths for GMs and advice on how to lead games.
