Metallic Acrylic Paint – Vivid Metal Color Series

GSW's Vivid Metal Colors series takes metallic finishing to another level, offering extraordinarily vivid, intense colors that are hard to find in the world of model making. Almost unique tones that bring a metallic shine that is surprising in the intensity of their colors and distinctive to any figurine, model or piece of décor.

Formulated with the highest quality ultra-fine pigments, these metallic paints Mother-of-pearl-based products offer a truly surprising metallic effect, guaranteeing professional results even on small or highly detailed surfaces. Their coverage, combined with quick drying, allows you to work comfortably and efficiently.

They can be combined with each other or with other paints and auxiliary products such as varnishes, although it is recommended to use a glossy, satin varnish or our chrome varnish preferably. They can also be combined with our range of Candy Inks or with our range of Interference or Metal Filters paints:

• They can be used with candy inks, due to their high transparency and brilliance, working as color filters on metallic surfaces, gemstones, crystals or lights, allowing the basic metallic hue to be modified and enhanced without losing definition. By applying a very thin layer of ink to the already painted metal, you can achieve unique color variations—intensifying reds, greens, blues, or shades in between—and achieve vibrant, deep visual effects.
• They can also be used with the range of metallic filters, which provide changing reflections depending on the angle of the light, generating pearlescent or iridescent sheens that transform the metallic finish into something much more dynamic. This combination creates very striking special effects, ranging from armor with changing reflections to details that look almost magical, for results that stand out just as well on a table as in a showcase.

How to apply Vivid metallic paints for the best results?

As with most metallic paints, we recommend applying a black primer to the surface before applying the Vivid Metal Color range. A dark base coat allows the metallic pigments to stand out much sharper, enhancing depth, contrast, and visual intensity. This is especially important with bright metallic hues, as the black base makes the colors look more intense, brilliant, and dramatic, while maintaining the reflective quality of the finish.

• For brush application, it is best to apply 3 to 4 thin layers, gradually accumulating the pigment until the desired color intensity is achieved. Working in thin layers produces a smoother, sharper finish and allows the metallic effect to gradually develop without masking surface details. Allow each coat to dry before applying the next and avoid applying too thickly, as several light coats will always give a more attractive and controlled result.
• For airbrush application, the paint should be slightly diluted before use, and it is also recommended to create the effect with several light coats rather than in one thick pass. This makes it very easy to use.
• For dry brush application, always start with a black base coat, as this will make the metallic pigments look much brighter and dramatic on the raised areas. Load only a small amount of paint onto a dry brush, remove the excess with paper towel, and then lightly run the brush over the surface so that the color only sets on edges, textures, and the smallest details. This technique creates a very vivid and striking metallic enhancement effect, making it particularly effective for armor, machinery, scenery, weapons, and decorative elements, while retaining shadows and adding strong contrast with minimal effort.

The Vivid Metal Color series is water-based and is completely non-toxic. It is also optimized for use with a brush or airbrush. For optimal airbrush performance, it is recommended to start with a 1:1 dilution with acrylic thinner.

Each jar contains a stainless steel ball to ensure a homogeneous and ready to use mixture in seconds.
