Green Stuff World - Textured Roller - 15mm Pavement Slab

Textured rollers for spreading and shaping all types of sealants, clays and pastes. Made of clear, non-stick PMMA plastic. Non-toxic.

  • Length: 14.50 cm (5.5 inches)
  • Diameter: 2.5 cm (1 inch)

USE:

1º Mix the clay/putty you want to sculpt properly until it is ready to be used according to the manufacturer's recommendations.

2º Spread the clay/putty on the surface to add texture. For best results, level the surface properly before using the rollers.

It is recommended to use a smooth roller for this purpose.

3º Depending on the type of material to be used, it may or may not be necessary to moisten the roller to prevent it from being glued.

4º Roll the roller slowly, applying the same pressure in all points to obtain a similar texture.

5º Reduce excess clay/putty. It is recommended to do this once the clay/putty has been case-hardened.

MATERIALS:

There are several sealants and clays on the market and all of them can be textured by applying the appropriate technique.

In general, polymer clays (such as Super Sculpey Beige or Fimo) are quite simple to work with with these rollers and allow you to rectify mistakes with ease, as they do not dry out until they are put in the oven. If the goal is to create textured bases, we recommend using MDF wood bases because the texturing of the clay is possible directly on the MDF base. After that, you have to put everything in the oven, the base too. The clay firing time is 15 minutes 150°C. MDF wood leaves a smell similar to that of toast, but it does not burn.

In the case of epoxy sealants, there are more differences and more techniques to achieve similar results. The good thing is that they do not need to be baked and can be applied directly to plastic materials.

In the case of Green Stuff resin, which is particularly sticky, the rollers will need to be wet with a little water before texturing. One can also reduce the adhesion of this putty applying talcum powders, or even with modeling petroleum jelly (LINK).

Other epoxy sealants such as Milliput sealant are also appropriate, but it is recommended not to moisten it too much because it hinders their work. In addition, if the mixture is too sticky, it is better to follow with kneading until it reduces their adhesion. Milliput works great if you mix them with the children's playdough, in a ratio of 50%/50%. You can also use other mixing ratios.

With Milliput alone, it is very important to clean the rollers properly after use.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE:

At the end of the work with the rollers, if there are any leftover material in the drawing, clean with Brush Scraper Pen (LINK) and plenty of water.

SAFETY:

These rollers are tools that should not be used by minors without adult supervision.
