Green Stuff World - Textured Roller with Handle - Small Slab Pavement

Textured roller with handle for spreading and shaping all types of resins, polymer clays and other sculpting clays. Made of clear PMMA non-stick plastic.

Thanks to its small size and innovative ergonomic handle design, it is an easy tool to carry and use.

There are different textures available that make it compatible with different scales of modeling. The textures are adaptable to each other to cover large areas. In addition, thanks to its handle, it allows you to print textures that create curves to give more realism to the model or the base.

Roll width: 4 cm (1.5 inches)
Roll length with handle: 14 cm (5.5 inches)
Diameter: 2.5cm (1 inch)
Scale: 28-32mm (1/64- 1/48)

* The roller and handle are not assembled. In the following LINK there is a photo guide to help you assemble them.

USE:

1º Mix the resin/clay you want to sculpt properly until it is ready to be used according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
2º Spread the clay/resin on the surface to be textured. For best results, level the surface properly before using the rollers.
It is therefore recommended to use a smooth roller.
3º Depending on the type of material to be used, it may or may not be necessary to moisten the roller to prevent it from sticking.
4º Run the roller slowly with the same pressure in all places to obtain a similar texture.
5º Reduce excess clay/resin. It is advisable to do this once the clay/resin is dry.

MATERIALS:

There are an infinite number of types of resins and clays on the market, and each of them can be textured using the appropriate technique.

In general, polymer clays (such as Super Sculpey or Fimo) are quite simple to work with with these rollers and allow you to rectify mistakes with ease, as they do not dry out until they are put in the oven. If the goal is to create textured bases, we recommend using MDF wooden bases because it is possible to texture the clay directly on them and then you can put it in the oven, and the base too. The clay firing time is 15 minutes at 150°C. MDF wood leaves a smell similar to that of toast, but it does not burn.

In the case of epoxy resins, there are other differences and other techniques to achieve similar results. However, they do not need to be put in the oven and can be applied directly to plastic materials.

In the case of Green Stuff resin, which is particularly sticky, the rollers will need to be wet with a little water before texturing. You can also reduce the adhesion of this resin by applying talcum powder, or for best results, you can even use a little model petroleum jelly (LINK).

Other epoxy resins such as Milliput / Magic Sculpt / Aves Apoxie Sculpt resin are also suitable but we recommend not to moisten them too much because they would not act in the same way and this could make it more difficult to use. It is better to use model vaseline.

Also, if the mixture is too sticky, it would be better to continue kneading the dough until it reduces its adhesion. Milliput works very well if you mix it with children's modelling clay, in a proportion of 50% / 50%.  You can also use other mixing ratios if you prefer.
With this type of resin, it is very important that you clean the rollers properly after use.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE:

As soon as you are done using the rollers, if there is any leftover dough on the drawing, clean with Scratch Brushes (LINK) and plenty of water.

SAFETY:

These rollers are tools that should not be used by children, without adult supervision.
