You take on the role of a Ranger, a protector of the mountainous valley where you find yourself: a vast wilderness transformed by monumental scientific and technological feats designed to save Earth from destruction.

You start by building your deck, which reflects your Ranger's interests, personal history, and personality. Then, as you explore the open world and your story takes shape, you'll add to your deck with upgraded gear, honed skills, and memories from your journey.

The story of Earthborne Rangers is presented in the form of a multi-branching narrative campaign, consisting of a main storyline and a multitude of side stories. In this campaign, you can choose to follow the path together or set out on your own to discover the many endearing characters, mysterious ruins, and familiar and strange beings of the Valley.

Each game session represents a day in the Valley, and you pick up where on the map you rested the night before. Your goal is to either complete one of the available missions or explore the open world. The session ends when you are forced to rest (due to fatigue or injury) or choose to rest for the night.

An individual game session is played in several rounds, and these rounds are made up of spins. On your turn, you perform an action: either you play a card from your hand, or you choose an action from the cards placed on the table. Each action allows you to interact thematically and narratively with the world, and each time you perform an action, the world comes to life around you. Predators stalk their prey, rain falls from the sky, rocks tumble down the mountain to block your way, and much more...
