The Roanoke colony has built up a fragile bridgehead in the New World,

But the future is still uncertain. Beyond the palisades, the wilds are home to as much wealth as peril. Strange sounds were heard near the whirlpools of the river. Sinister totem poles have been seen at the edge of the forest. And some villagers have disappeared... Crops die, cattle get sick, and food runs out, much to the chagrin of the Crown. Is the witchcraft that is rampant in the colony just the manifestation of a much darker force that comes from outside? Will the colonists reap the fruits of the promised land, or will their expeditions reveal the hidden horrors that could befall them?
