Monster Trail, an expansion for The Witcher: The Old World

The world after the Conjunction of the Spheres is populated by terrifying creatures. No one can feel safe alone on the paths. Drowners lurking in the shadows, ghouls prowling by cemeteries, or harpies melting from the sky are just some of the dangers that threaten travelers.

This adds a new depth to different aspects of the game: tracking and fighting monsters, building your deck and creating combos, using bombs, exploiting mutators, and integrating special cards into your starting decks.

The expansion includes a playable school: the Manticore, advanced action cards, and 17 large monster cards, each representing an Old World creature. These cards include an advanced special ability for each monster and the description of four special attacks, related to the characteristics of monsters in the witcher's universe.

When a monster appears on the board, an additional large card is placed next to it. It is visible to everyone and associated with this specific monster.

In addition to the 17 monster cards, this expansion introduces 4 special battle cards. Before facing a monster, randomly shuffle 2, 3, or 4 of these cards into its "life pool" (depending on the monster's level). This makes each fight unique, whether it's facing off against a massive werewolf or an elusive Fog. Each fight with the same monster can be different, as special attacks vary in type and order of appearance.

Special battle cards also introduce a new mechanic: passive attacks. When a monster loses a special card due to damage taken, the corresponding passive attack is automatically triggered.

The monsters' special and passive attacks force players to plan their decisions even more carefully when hunting and fighting.
